During an interview with Booska P Maitre Gims spoke about his collaboration with Australian superstar SIA : “We were listening to the song and thought that it really had an international potential. And we imagined having SIA on it, just like that…to me SIA, when you look at the work that she has done, whether it’s for Rihanna with diamond, or Britney or whoever, today in the artistic world, when people hear her name, they’re intimidated. So I didn’t even imagine for a second that she was going to accept. I was like nahh it’s complicated. It’s easier to have Rihanna or Beyoncé. She’s special she doesn’t do much featurings…but at the same time she’s a monster. So we’re like, let’s still send her the track…the next day I’m in the car and I get a call from my record label owner”. And the rest is basically history. She reportedly heard the song and went to the studio right away. He explained that the craziest part to him was that she kept the same melody that he initially came up with. The fact that she kept the same melody of a “little French guy in Paris, that isn’t even international” (his words) is what touched him the most.
